Version: 1.0

Midas Unit: Non Parish Areas
Description: Non Parish Areas have been defined using conventions agreed between English Heritage and the RCHME as a means of effectively indexing large unparished areas. These include in particular the metropolitan counties such as Merseyside or the West Midlands. Non Parish Areas attempt to reflect areas with local identity within the larger areas, so as to provide an effective means of indexing and retrieval that relates to local perceptions. Where possible boundaries between Non Parish Areas follow other boundaries (for example electoral wards) , or major identifiable features such as main roads, rivers and railways. Spelling and punctuation rules as used in the Civil Parish list apply.
