English Heritage Historic Aircraft Thesaurus

Version: 1.0

Midas Unit: Monument Type
Description: The Historic Aircraft Type Thesaurus was developed as an indexing tool to aid the recording of aircraft remains and crash sites by the RCHME and English Heritage. The thesaurus was developed simultaneously with the recording projects, with most terms being added as required, listing aircraft by form (eg. SPITFIRE), function (eg. FIGHTER) and manufacturer (eg. SUPERMARINE). The thesaurus therefore reflects the current extent of the aircraft recording projects carried out by these two organisations.
