What is MIDAS Heritage?

MIDAS Heritage: the UK Historic Environment Information Standard is the new edition of a professional standard for recording historic environment information. The first edition, published in 1998, is the agreed data standard for inventories of monuments and investigations of the built and buried heritage in England.

MIDAS Heritage will:

• Cover a wider range of heritage information, including for the first time landscapes, artefacts, post-excavation research GIS data and more;
• Be relevant to the whole United Kingdom.

Project Progress

The Midas Heritage Peer Review has now closed. Thank you very much to all who took part. If you would still like to make a comment on MIDAS Heritage, but missed the peer review deadline, it isn't too late; your response may not make it into the forthcoming edition, but we are intending to put in place a programme of more frequent updates to MIDAS Heritage, and your response will be considered as part of this programme.
